Hola!

Dad!  I am so glad you got my letter on your birthday, and it sounds like you had the dream day.  You have good friends, and there is nothing like having two breakfasts!

Mom, I got the package, the slip is perfect!  Thank you thank you thank you!  I do have a few requests for you and dad.  First of all, if you and dad and whoever could send me some of your favorite conference talks, printed out, I would love that.  Also some information on the women in the Old Testament, I guess how they are inspiring.  I started reading the Bible and it is a little nuts.  I am trying to make sense of it, and Mana Rosen is reading it at the same time, which is good, so we discuss alot.  But We are trying to find the spiritual messages!  So any ideas with that would be great.  And one more thing, I have this book at home, it is a personality test called Enneogram, I think, It is a light yellow cover with a blue face on it.  If you can locate that, that would be the best.

This week has been awesome.  We have finally met all of our investigators and started making plans and preparing for them.  It has been a little weird, because we really don't know them super well, but it is the best!  And I already love them all.  We have one investigator who is on date to be baptized, she is 14 and the niece of one of our recent converts-Sandra, her name is Daniela, and she is the sweetest.  We are working with her, trying to see her more often during the week and all that Jazz.  We are also teaching a mother and a daughter from peru, Laurdes y Gaby.  Gaby is best friends with Daniela and Laurdes is best friends with Sandra.  So there is friend-shipping all around.  Gaby and Laurdes are the most united mother daughter I have ever seen.  They are so humble and love the Book of Mormon.  Sandra, the recent convert is just on fire, loving the gospel and has two cute little kids and a bird named Nelson (after the apostle).

We started getting to know people, but there are just so many, slowly but surly, we are getting there.  They feed us here, so it is a good way to get to know the members!

We had our zone meeting last week, which was like an hour away.  Our zone is the largest geographically in the mission, so yikes.  But it was an awesome zone meeting.  We talked about goals and visions and all those shenanigans, very inspiring.  Also President Wilson came, which was new, because we are literally neighbors with him, so I guess down here we will see him alot more often.

Which reminds me, we had dinner on Saturday night with President and Sister Wilson.  They invited us over, and it was so much fun.  They are just hilarious.  It was neat to have that time to get to know them better as humans, and Mana Rosen and I just had a wee of a time.  We were all laughing the whole time, and we also gave them a little training on talking to Hispanics.  Mostly taught them how to say they were from the church and give them a card in Spanish and then they give you their information, its a great little system.

We have been getting more used to the area and figuring things out a little bit more.  We also did some tracting for the English sisters and it was way rough.  First of all is was pouring rain, which by the way it does here all the time, and no one even pretended to listen to us.  But we sang Spanish songs and had a lovely time.

We also had a crazy lesson with this Evangelical guy who was trying to teach us, and it was kind of nuts.  But we had this fuerte member with us who just bore her testimony and we got out of there right quick.  But it was the good mems.

Also I gave a real live talk yesterday!  In Espanol!  It was very real, 20 mins long, called on Saturday, the whole 9 yards.  It was about members and missionary work.  And I had to wing it a little.  But it ended up going pretty well!  I am starting to feel more comfortable conversing in spanish. and Mostly i am so grateful that I was called spanish speaking!

I still love being a missionary.  We work hard, and we are tired, but it is just so so so good.  I love my savior so very much, and I just want to do what he would have me do.  Thank you for your love.  I need you guys.  I hope you have the best week!

xoxo Mana Myer

Mi familia!

I am almost too happy to write right now!  I am serious, God loves me and that is for real.

So the beginning of the week was nutso, we were trying to pack and clean and organize and say goodbye, and it was new years and all those shenanigans.  But it was great times.  I love Harrisonburg, and all my cute members.  I was sad to say goodbye, but ready for some change.  I think I was most sad to say goodbye to Joshua, Flors son, he is my bff and knows my name (the only missionary) and gives me besitos and is the cutest.  But we visted them, of corse, and mostly everyone.  We had a fun zone p-day where we tryed to make a fire and roast mallows, but it was too windy so we used the stove.  It was fun to see all my little missionaries before the change.

So TRANSLADOS!  Hi.  They called on sunday night to tell us we were moving, but this time they didnt tell us who with or when until the transfer meeting (usually they call agian on tuesday).  So I was freaking out.  Mostly just had a pit in my stomache.  I mean I knew the Lord would send me where I needed to go and all that jazz, but it was just nerve wracking.  So we got to the meeting and we were singing and all that and President starts calling out companionships...and the second to last one was..."Going to Chesterfield...Hermana Rosen and Hermana Myer"...we both about screamed and DIED.  I was so happy.  Also maybe shed a tear.  And that is how it happend.  The Girlz are back!

We couldn't be happier.  We are in Chesterfield, which is in Downtown Richmond.  I think we are actually called the Midlothian Hermanas...because there are 4 sets of missionaries in the WARD, thats right, a real live ward filled with the cutest little hispanics!  And clearly we are White Washing the area, Kam was in Stafford before, so that is a little nuts.  Our area is HUGE.  Our ward covers 2 Stakes, and our area is the biggest...so it is a big change.  But it is so so so exciting.  There is so much work going on here and there are so many members!  We also live really close to President and the Mission Office so thats fun.  Also we live in this cute little blue house, with a set of English Sisters.

We have been trying to get aquainted with all of our members and also learn the area.  We have done a ton of mapping and that kind of stuff.  And a ton of progress record reading, which is always good.  It is so weird just swooping in on someone elses missionary work, but it is exciting!  We have some really great people to start working with and also some new potentionals that we picked up along the way.

Church was a little bit crazy, there are just so so so many people.  It will take a while to meet everyone and start getting names dowm, but it will all be great!  We also have some awesome missionaries in our ward.  We have the sister training leaders, Hermana Carn y Hermana Walis, the Zone Leaders, Pedraza y Perrault, and my friend Elder Burbank again, and his compy Elder Grange.  We are just so happy!

White Washing an area is a little tricker than I had imagined, but Hermana Rosen is the best missionary.  She is just so organized and ready to work and we are on the same page, and having the time of our lives.  Missionary work is the best and having her with the same goals as me, makes everything so much better!  Also the miracle of all miracles is that we have been able to understand everyone that has talked to us.  Lessons and contacting and members, all that Jazz.  I was a little worried, but the Lord really does bless you when you need to be blessed.  I am so grateful for this opportunity to work hard and to love everyone.  And I am so grateful for Hermana Rosen, I couldn't imagine anyone better to do this work with.  Happy happy new year!

Sorry for all that info, but like I said, I am just so happy.

I hope you all have been making your goals, and I am happy to hear that life is getting back to a routine.  That is always good.  You guys are such an inspiration to me to keep working to be happy to just do what the lord would have me too.  Thank you for your love and support always!  I hope you have the best week!

xoxo Hermana Myer

Also PS Hermana McBride took my place in Harrisonburg!  So Hermana Sevilla is training her and she is sleeping in my bed!

New year, yew me!

Hola mi familia!

Last week was the very very very best!  It was the best Christmas ever!  And the very best part was being able to talk to you!  It made me so happy to feel like I was just there in the kitchen with all my favorite people.  Mostly it was just good to remember how much you guys love me!  Also I have been reading my flat Riley book every day, it makes me so happy to see all my friends and family.  And also it is just hilarious that you guys romped all over and took pictures with it.  I love you!

After Christmas we were all exhausted, for the following three days every lunch and dinner hour we were all three napping, it was pretty funny, but we are back to normal now.  Also we started running again in the morning which has really been helping in all kinds of ways.

Don't you worry dad, I have already started thinking of goals and writing them down.  Crazy that I will be a missionary almost all next year.  After I am done I will send you a copy so you can help me be accountable, I mean its no OHOP breakfast, but it will have to do.  We need to do that when I get home, I miss that!

I am getting transferred!!! I am so so so sad to leave da burg, I really love it here.  I have my cute little members and investigators.  But change is good and I am excited.  I won't find out until Thursday where i am going and who my  new compy comp will be!

We have been teaching Luis y Mirta like crazy.  They are progressing and changing and they are just so happy.  They are the older cuban couple and we love them, and they love us.  We taught them Word of Wisdom this week and set up a plan for them.  They have been smoking for the past 50 years...so it is going to be a process.  But they want to stop!  I am just so happy.  We also met their son, Rye, and he is hilarious he is here for a few months and he is a hair dresser.  I think I am going to have him cut my hair!

Also we found Miguelito!  It was the happiest day...he had moved and got a new phone and hadnt called him, but finally we found him when we were visiting our Puerto Rican investigators.  I about cried and we took a picture so that is good news.  Hermana Sevilla is going to keep teaching him, so hurray!

I am so excited for the new year!  There are just so many options and ways to grow.  I just want to be a a better human.  I am working on it!  Thank you for being the best family on the planet.  I love love love you all!

love, Hermana Myer!

The happiest time of year!

Mi familia-

I hope you both received my little Christmas packages!  I have received all of your mom, and Alyse, and I am feeling very spoiled.  We listened to Maddy's Cd, which was awesome, ate Caramel, and yes, I am waiting to open the rest, you know how I am.  Even the one from My Publisher came, so thank you thank you thank you!

This time of year really is the happiest.  I have been enjoying this Christmas season very very much.  It is so unique to be a missionary during Christmas, everything takes on a little bit more meaning.

This week has been craziness, on Tuesday we had our Christmas mission conference so we were gone all day in Richmond.  It was the best meeting I have ever been too.  There were a bunch of short talks on Christ-like attributes and after every talk there was a musical number.  It was beautiful.  It is so great to be able to learn from the elders and sisters that I serve with every day, and to share in their testimonies.   I got to see my Hermana George for the last time before she leaves, which was sad, we cried.  And also all my other missionary friends.  They are all just so good, and make me want to be better.  I love being a missionary.

This week we were running around like chickens with our heads cut off, it was crazy.  We are in a trio now so we are covering two areas, and we appointments every hour of the day.  So its good, but busy.  Also I got sick on Tuesday night with a sinus/ears/throat/cough/cold, which was just lovely.  I couldn't really sleep at night, which was the worst.  But I am much better today.  I have been inhaling emergen' c, so that seemed to help.

Yesterday the happiest thing happened.  We have our cute cuban investigators, Luis y Mirta, they are this older couple and we have been teaching them for a while now.  When we first found them Luis was reading the Book of Mormon like crazy, and loving it.  But they both have really bad health, and it was hard to make appointments with them with all their doctors appointments and he was working.  But he has been having a problem with his eye and had to stop working and also can't see, and he had a couple of surgeries.  So we have been teaching them more, and he is getting better.  And yesterday they came to church!  I was so happy, and they loved it.  We had a Christmas program with tons of hymns and stuff, and they both loved it.  Luis said that when he starts working again he is going to buy a suit so that he can come to church.  I about died.  This week has been hard, we have been dropped/ignored by a bunch of people and yesterday made it all worth it.  They came to church, received the good word, and felt the spirit.  Best. Day. Ever.

We also had our Cena de Navidad, which was big success.  We had so much food and almost everyone was there!  Even one of our investigators, Jesus!  I was just so happy, I think the whole rama is beginning to understand how much I love Christmas, and hugs, and besitos.  But really, I am so happy.

I know that my Savior Lives, and I know that he died for me.  I am trying my hardest to be more like him every day, and I know that is all he asks.  I have a simple faith, but it keeps me going.  I just want to help other people have the same happiness that I have.  I love you all very much and I am grateful for your example to me.  I am so excited to talk to you on Christmas!  Get ready for some tears of joy!  You are the best family in the whole wide world.

xoxo Hermana RileyJane
